Open day 6th August 2016
A brilliant day!!
The weather was gorgeous, sunny, blue skies and very warm, it was a bit different from April, in that this time the chef was trying to get away from the bbq in the gazebo instead of everyone trying to get into it for a warm.
The day started with a big surprise at just after 12 o'clock, when we weren't really expecting anyone so early, and a swarm of bicyclists turned up. Apparently the ride leader had put GCAA on the itinery for a tea and cake stop - and it was brilliant!
After that it was busy all afternoon till well after 4. We had vistas of visitors (estimate 100), prodigious produce, a totally titanic tombola and fantastic food - copious cakes, brilliant barbecue, breathtaking bruschetta, piles of pasta, perfect pakoras and wicked wine (in more ways than one).

The day was really special in large part because some of our members are amazing and responded to the request for help, some even got their friends or relatives to contribute and it really made the day - that and the free homemade wine 'tasting' and of course the chat.
A huge thank you to everyone that came, made things, brought stuff, organised, tidied the site, did the cooking, made tea, washed up and fixed the toilet - you are the biz!
You ALL deserve a mention but at the risk of leaving someone out I daren't try, but you know who you are. Click here for more photos

We raised £97 from the tombola, and £158 from the drinks, cakes, produce and plants, BBQ £51. Donation of £140 to charity, which one is to be suggested by members. Any produce that wasn't snapped up by the visitors (for donations) was taken to the Healthy Living Network to provide lunches for vulnerable people.
